Rotax has released a new Service Instruction (SI) document applicable to certain 912, 914 (series) and 582 (Model 99 and Model 17) aircraft engines. This particular SI document recaps the ongoing improvements to the Bing constant depression carburetor as used on the 912 & 914 (series) engines, and the slide type carb as used on the 582UL engines.

May 11, 2015 · I doubt anyone will fit the 912iS in an RV-12 as a 'mod' from the standard installation unless Van's eventually offer it as an option. The 912iS is a relatively complicated installation over the standard 912ULS because of the electronic fuel injection and ignition systems.

The ROTAX 912/914 is equipped with a dry sump forced flow lubrication system. The oil flow starts at the bottom of the pick-up tube in the oil tank n and is sucked through the oil coolero via oil lines to the suction side of a trochoid type pump. This completes the suction side of the oil system. And yes, the 912 injected and the 914 Rotax also need to return unused fuel back to the fuel system. In my opinion the wing tanks are the best place for that fuel to be returned for any engines that run fuel pumps to recirculate unused fuel, as air is constantly cooling the bigger quantity of fuel in the wing vs the much smaller header tank ...
